Affiliate Disclosure

PickKoala is reader-supported. This page explains, plainly, how that works.

Last updated September 2026 · Contact: hello@pickkoala.com

The short version: some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid anyway. Brands cannot pay us for a recommendation, a ranking or a better review.

1. Our commitment to transparency

In line with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255), and comparable rules in other jurisdictions, we disclose affiliate relationships clearly and near the point of the link — not buried in a footer.

Where a page contains commercial links, you will see a disclosure near the top of the article before the first such link, and a short reminder next to each outbound product link.

2. How the money works

When you click an outbound commercial link and complete a purchase, the retailer or the affiliate network that connects us to that retailer pays us a small percentage of the order value. This is called a commission. It costs you nothing extra.

If you click a link and buy nothing, we earn nothing. If you buy something else entirely while you are there, we may still earn a small commission depending on the programme's terms. We have no visibility into your personal order details, and we never receive your payment information.

3. Programmes we participate in

PickKoala participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and other affiliate advertising programmes. Depending on the guide, we may link to retailers including:

  • Amazon
  • Walmart
  • Target
  • Best Buy
  • Nordstrom
  • REI

This list may change as programmes open and close. The presence of a retailer here is not an endorsement of every product it sells.

As an Amazon Associate, PickKoala earns from qualifying purchases. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. Other product and company names mentioned on this site are the trademarks of their respective owners and are used for identification purposes only.

4. Commissions never buy a recommendation

This is the part that matters most, so we will be specific:

  • A brand cannot pay to appear in a guide.
  • A brand cannot pay to move higher up a list.
  • A brand cannot pay for a softer verdict, a removed criticism or a better placement.
  • We do not accept sponsored articles, paid link insertions or guest posts that exist to carry a link.
  • We do not let brands review drafts before publication.

If we ever accept a free sample, loan unit or similar, we disclose it in the article and it carries no guarantee of coverage. In practice, most of our guides are written without any contact with the manufacturer at all — they are built from published specifications, manuals, warranty terms and aggregated owner reports, as described in how we test.

5. About prices

We do not publish prices as standing facts, because they change constantly and vary by region, retailer and time of day. Where you see “check current price”, the live price at the retailer is the authoritative figure. Any price we ever quote is indicative only and may already be out of date.

6. Who to contact

Questions about this disclosure, or about a specific link, can go to hello@pickkoala.com. We are happy to explain how any given recommendation was arrived at.
